Hi, I'm Daniel. Cooling systems are part of my day job.
By day I'm a mechanic in Victoria. Plenty of my week is spent with my head under a bonnet, and some of those jobs are overheating problems: a tired radiator, a fan that's given up, an engine pushed too hard on a 40-degree day. The fix is nearly always the same. Move the heat out and keep the air flowing.
Animals have always liked me. I think they can sense something. My family is full of them: Goldens, a Bernese, a Kelpie, a Pomeranian, pugs and a bunch of cats, too many to list, and somehow I'm always the one they come and lean on. I don't have a pet of my own right now, because saying goodbye is the hardest part. Maybe one day. Until then, I'm never short of furry company.
Watch any of them on a hot day and you'll see the problem. They live through the same summers we do, but they're wearing a fur coat. Dogs can't sweat like us; they cool down mostly by panting. So they go hunting for the coolest spot in the house, which is usually the bathroom tiles or right in front of your fan.
So I started Chill Wag: a small Aussie shop with one job, which is keeping pets cool and comfy through summer. Think of it as a cooling system for your best mate. That means self-cooling mats that need no fridge and no power, cordless fans, and water gear for walks and road trips.
No sweat. Well, not for them anyway.
